Baptism is a Sacrament of Initiation, marking the beginning of one’s journey in the family of the Church. For infants and young children, Baptism is celebrated as an individual sacrament. For those aged 7 and older, it is typically received alongside other Sacraments of Initiation, such as Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
How to Apply for Infant Baptism
Application forms for infant Baptism can be downloaded here or collected from the back of each church and the parish office. Completed forms should be returned to the parish office by email or in person.
Once we receive your application, we will tentatively schedule your requested date, time, and church. Baptisms take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month at 11.30am and 12.30pm, so please consider this when selecting a date. If your requested date or time is unavailable, we will contact you via email to discuss alternative options.
Baptism Preparation Meeting
Before your child’s Baptism booking is finalised, parents are required to attend a Preparation Meeting. The date and time of the next meeting will be printed in our weekly newsletter. You only need to attend one session.
At this meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Priest, ask any questions, make your offering using the provided envelopes, and officially secure your Baptism date in our diary. The meeting lasts approximately 30 minutes, and while your child does not need to be present, both parents are welcome to attend.
Without attendance at a Preparation Meeting, your Baptism is not booked.
For any further enquiries, feel free to contact the parish office. We look forward to welcoming your family into the Church!
